On which side of the window should I apply the reflective window film?

• The film should be applied on the outside of the window.

What is the advantage of an outdoor reflective window film?

• Outdoor films are superior to indoor films in that a large portion of the sun's rays are reflected directly and a smaller portion is absorbed. This means only the smallest part of the sunlight passes through the glass. They also provide UV protection and can be used as heat protection on almost all insulating glazing.

Why is UV protection important?

• A significant benefit of the reflective window film is that it blocks UV rays. UV radiation can not only negatively affect your health, but can also cause materials such as fabrics, artwork and furniture to fade over time.

Is there a risk that the glass might break or crack?

• No, there is no such risk provided the windows belong to the above-mentioned window systems and have neither cracks nor fissures. Since the film is externally applied, the reflection does not take place inside the panes. In contrast to window films that are applied on the interior, the structure and thermal shock resistance of the glass are not altered.

Which surfaces are suitable for installation the reflective window film?

• The reflective window films can be used on the outside of tinted, laminated, insulated, or Low-E glazing. They are also suitable for outdoor installation on modern window systems. However, the condition, position and suitability of your windows should be checked in advance. If you are unsure, we always recommend consulting the window manufacturer or the landlord and/or property management.

Is the film also suitable for old windows?

• To be on the safe side, you should consult the window manufacturer or the landlord and/or property management. They will be able to tell you whether the windows are suitable for the application.

Which surfaces are not suitable for installing the reflective window film?

• The reflective window films are not suitable for use on textured or hydrophobic glazing. We also advise against applying them to damaged window panes, as cracks and/or fissures can cause breakage.

Is the reflective window film opaque?

• The reflective window film is to a certain extent opaque. During the day, the reflection on the film is sufficient to keep prying eyes from outside away. The advantage: you can easily look outside from inside. When it gets dark and the reflection decreases significantly, it is no longer guaranteed that your privacy is protected.

How should I clean the reflective window film?

• Cleaning the reflective window film is very easy. About 30 days after installation, the film can be cleaned with a soft cloth and common cleaners without solvents and/or alcohol.

When and under which conditions can the film be applied?

• The reflective window film should be installed at temperature between 5 and 40 °C. PLEASE NOTE: Installation should only be carried out during frost-free periods. Otherwise, the residual moisture from the wet adhesion can freeze during the transition periods when night frost occurs, causing frost flowers.

Is it possible to install the film alone?

• We recommend installing the reflective window film with two people. This ensures better handling and minimizes the risk of creases or scratches.

Can the film withstand sea air?

• The film can be used in homes that are near the ocean without any problems. However, if the distance to the sea is less than 16 kilometres, it is important that the edges are sealed after application.

Is the film weatherproof?

• Yes, if installed correctly, the sun protection film can withstand any weather.

Tip for multiple windows:

• Order the total size in one piece
• Simply cut with scissors
• The film should be about 4 cm longer and wider than the window

Installation:

• Install it exclusively from the outside (see installation instructions)
• We recommend sealing the edges with all-weather silicone after drying

Removal:

• Remove at an outside temperature between 15 and 30 °C
• Carefully cut the film vertically in strips of approx. 15 to 20 cm width using a cutter
• Slowly peel off the vertical strips one by one from bottom to top
• Scrape off adhesive residue using a glass scraper and washing-up liquid

Cleaning:

• Clean with water, a mild detergent, cloth and squeegee
• Remove stubborn stains with a cloth and turpentine substitute, then clean with soapy water and wipe off
• Do not use brushes, coarse cloths or abrasive cleaning agents

Please note:

• Do not use sharp or abrasive objects to clean the film
• Inform window cleaners about the flat film and the cleaning instructions
• Suitable for full-surface bonding of the following windows: single glazing, insulating glass unit (IGU), transparent IG unit-Low E, IG unit-Low E

Warranty void if:

• There is a deviation from the above-mentioned suitable window surfaces
• Film is only partially bonded to the glass
• The glass surface is already damaged before installation
• Existing residue (e.g. film, paint, varnish residues) is not removed before installation
• The glass surface deviates from standard residential windows (e.g. larger than 6 square metres, unusual shapes)
• Is installed at an altitude of over 2,000 metres
