Is an outdoor rug useful?

What size should the outdoor rug be?

The right size for your outdoor rug depends on the dimensions and shape of your outdoor area and the type of furniture. It shouldn’t be too overpowering or too subtle. Ideally, make sure all the furniture you want to place on the rug fits comfortably and can be moved around with ease. Also, leave enough space between the rug and any walls or surrounding furniture.

How can I clean my outdoor rug?

Proper care helps your outdoor rug last longer. Beat or vacuum it regularly to remove loose dirt, and treat any stains immediately with lukewarm water and mild detergent. Avoid scrubbing too hard. For heavier dirt, you can hose the rug down thoroughly with a garden hose.

Can I use a pressure washer to clean the outdoor rug?

Generally, this durable outdoor rug can be cleaned with a pressure washer. Just make sure to use a low-pressure setting and keep a safe distance. To avoid damaging the design and to prolong the rug’s lifespan, it's best to use the pressure washer on the reverse side only.

Can I wash the outdoor rug in the washing machine?

Technically, the rug can be machine-washed at up to 40°C on a gentle cycle. However, we don’t recommend it. Especially large rugs can get crumpled in the drum, which may damage the material. Instead, opt for a damp cloth or a garden hose – just as easy!

Can mould form on the outdoor rug?

Yes, mould can form on outdoor rugs, especially if they’re not properly maintained or stored. However, our rugs are made with a highly water-permeable fabric structure, which greatly reduces the risk of mould.

How can I prevent mould on the outdoor rug?

To prevent mould growth, it's important to avoid pooling water and to clean the rug regularly. Dirt should be removed from both the front and back. You can use a damp cloth or a garden hose for this. If you’re not using the rug for an extended period, roll it up and store it in a dry place.

Can the outdoor rug be left outside in the rain and other weather conditions?

Yes, the outdoor rug is designed to withstand most weather conditions. However, we recommend protecting or storing it indoors during extreme weather like heavy rain, snow, or frost to extend its lifespan.

Can the outdoor rug stay outside during winter?

Although the outdoor rug is weather-resistant, we advise against leaving it outside in winter. Constant moisture, frost and snow during cold months can cause damage. So clean the rug at the end of the season and store it in a sheltered place like a cellar or garage for the winter break.

The water-permeable outdoor rug can be used on many surfaces – like wood, concrete, or stone. Thanks to its material properties, pooling water and mould are unlikely. Still, the surface underneath should be checked and cleaned regularly to prevent moisture, deposits, and damage.

Will the colour fade over time in the sun?

The outdoor rug is UV-resistant. However, the colour may slowly fade with prolonged sun exposure. This fading process depends on several local factors – like sunlight intensity, temperature, humidity, and elevation. To reduce the effect, place the rug in a semi- or fully-covered area, clean it regularly, and bring it indoors for winter.

The surface must be clean and dust-free.
Sharp-edged metal table or chair legs may cause damage more quickly – we advise against using the rug under such furniture.

It may take 1 to 2 days for the rug to lay completely flat after unrolling.
Indentations from heavy furniture will disappear over time.
Avoid using aggressive cleaning agents (e.g. bleach etc.).
